How can I recive my Military ID card while my husband is overseas?
Hi, My husband and I had gotten married just a few weeks before he was deployed. I didn’t receive my military ID before he left, and just wanted to know how can I still receive my ID card while he’s still over seas? He have a copy and is yet to complete Form dd1172, but have not done a Power of Attorney.

- Go to the administration building at your husbands home base. take your marriage license with you.
- As long as you are listed in DEERS , you can go to any military base or reserve center and get it.

- Call his local command, there should be someone that, for one reason or another, is rear detactment. All of the personnel being sent overseas go through an SRP. The issues should have been addressed prior to deployment, including Power of Attorney. It will be a hassle, anything involving the government usually is. Have a copy of his Orders, Marriage License, DEERS, your ID-drivers license, Birth Certificate, Social Security card. Another source would be the units FRG (Family Readiness Group). That is part of what they are formed and established for, support and help of those deployed. Not knowing which branch of service you spouse is attached to makes this a general overview. May the Deity watch over you, and bring comfort. PS It gratifiing to view so many 'thumbs down" in so short a time.
- Not without the DD1172 and Power of Attorney. As soon as you get that you can go to the closest Base or Reserve center and get it.
- Well as long as you do not have a power of attorney, there isn't much you can do unless he gets that for you or comes home. He might be able to get the POA while deployed though. Otherwise, unfortunately there isn't any way of getting your ID. Have him ask where he is deployed. He should still be able to get your POA.
- Call the ID Crad facility and talk or go to it and ask them what is required, you may need a POA and a signed DD1172 by your husband and his CO, you may just need a POA and then you cna sign for your husband.
