can i get a non-driver's florida id card without surrendering my ny state license if i can prove residency in fla? ok.. so the answer is technically no but if you apply for a resident card, and keep your ny license will the dmv of the respective states know or even care... or do anything about it?

- Yes, it has nothing to do with it.
- Why don't you get a NY non-drivers ID and get a Fl drivers license? I'm not sure if Fl has non drivers ID.
- yes, but if you want to legally drive as a resident in Florida, you need to surrender your NY license and get an FL one, FYI.
- Yes, but remember that, according to the law, you have 30 days to exchange your NY driver license for a FL one, so an ID wont help if you get stopped by the cops, on the contrary, it will prove "since when" are you living in FL and that you are driving with a NY driver license probably for more than the 30 days specified by the law.........be careful.
- No. You can only hold a license or ID from your state of residence. And you can only be a resident of one state at a time. If you can prove residency in Florida, then you may not retain your NY license.
