Can I travel from state to state using a Consular Identification Card?
I live in the United States and plan to travel to another state very soon. My foreign passport is expired. All I have is a Consular Identification Card. Would that ID be okay with the airports to leave and come back?

- Why is your passport expired? Consular ID is not an acceptable ID. In fact is a red flag. Do you have a drivers license? Resident ID card?
- I hope someone here will have TSA experience. They'll have a better answer. But usually the airlines are looking for some "government issued" identification. This is to fly domestically, say from Texas to Wisconsin. The other issue is your immigration status- if your passport is expired, your I-94 may be valid, but you need a valid passport with the I-94. Many people have no passport, so they fly domestically with a driver's license. TSA is OK with that. If you fly with a passport, it can't be expired. Best bet for now- call the airlines you plan to use and ask them. Also call the TSA folks and get confirmation from them.
- More than likely you will attract attention,if you live legally in the US you should have a driver's license and a valid passport and a green card. A Consular Identification is not valid for the US but only to your Embassy for consular services.
